"In the last 10 months I've lost over 75 lbs! I feel so much stronger and so much more confident. I am finally able to keep up with my kids." - Aleesha Henderson
In August 2015, I had reached my highest weight ever. I have had a never ending battle with my weight since I was a teenager. I've tried to lose weight and to become healthy many times, but nothing ever stuck with me. Being constantly out of breath and unable to keep up with my 2 kids, I knew I needed to do something, but I didn't know what.
About 1 week after my 36th birthday, I saw an ad on Facebook for Lift's 6-Week Transformation Challenge. I thought it might be too good to be true, but I called Silas and he answered all my questions with ease.
The weight came off fairly quick, and the inches did too. After a couple of weeks I could barely wear the shorts that I started with. Derek and Silas were so encouraging and supportive. I received constant high fives. I felt wonderful.
In the last 10 months I've lost over 75 lbs! I feel so much stronger and so much more confident. I am finally able to keep up with my kids. The staff are so supportive and encouraging at Lift. You don't just feel like a number like at other gyms. I absolutely love it here and I can't stop talking about it. Lift is not just about weight loss, it's about a life and attitude change. My attitude is now a positive one and I believe that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to!
“I've lost almost 35 lbs, I am starting to see muscle definition, and I feel good about myself; something I haven't felt in a long time.” - Bruce Dionne
About four years ago, I had a serious bicycle accident. Without my bike, I was not exercising and the weight started to increase. A year and a half ago, I joined another gym and eventually purchased several training sessions. Unfortunately, the trainers left for other endeavors and I was shunted from trainer to trainer.
After a year, I didn't feel much better. I researched and with recommendations from some friends, I contacted Silas at Lift Fitness. I explained what my goals were and he immediately started evaluating the situation. With his enthusiasm, his no-nonsense approach and his dedication evident in our discussions, I joined Lift.
With Silas, I have seen a big difference in three months. I enjoy the workouts, have noticed my body changing shape (for the better) and have become addicted to exercise. I've lost almost 35 lbs, I am starting to see muscle definition, and I feel good about myself; something I haven't felt in a long time.
At Lift, you receive personal attention, you are taught the proper way to do any exercise and it’s all done with a positive attitude! My workout was tailored to me and the compliments I've received lately inspired me to work harder to attain my goals.
I feel Lift Personal Fitness has given me true value for my money and I wholeheartedly recommend contacting Silas to start your new healthy life!
"I have lost a total of 30 lbs and 12% of my body fat. This has affected me in a very positive way. I have gained more energy, I’m more productive, and I feel more comfortable in my own skin." - Jodie Shannon
Hi my name is Jodie Shannon, and I’ve been attending LIFT for the past 5 months. I have lost a total of 30 lbs and 12% of my body fat. This has affected me in a very positive way. I have gained more energy, I’m more productive, and I feel more comfortable in my own skin.
Lift offers a wide variety of fitness classes that can meet your daily schedule. Everyone’s positive, upbeat, fun, and you get to meet great people. The staff are friendly, encouraging, helpful and always bring a positive spin to each and every class.
If I could encourage someone to start a healthy lifestyle I would say that they need to find a facility that meets their needs, they must be willing to commit to this journey, find a source of support (i,e family or friends) and to start making healthy choices in regards to daily eating habits.
For me, LIFT Personal Fitness has been the best choice I have made in regards to my overall health. Choosing Lift on your fitness journey would be a choice well made!
"OMG, THEY FIT! I start to tear up, and I come out of the dressing room, and she said “See! I told you! Pretty soon you won’t need to be shopping in my store anymore!”." - Tanya Ramsay
*FEEL GOOD MOMENT* Alright my fellow groupies, this is going to be a long one. I have a personal victory story to share (thanks Stephanie Johnsen for suggesting I share).

I have been overweight pretty much from the time I was in grade 3, I have always been that “big boned” girl even though I was an active kid/adult. Over the course of my adolescent and adult life I have battled, and yo-yo’d with the best of them, tried every program out there, joined different gyms, whatever - you name it. I finally made a decision in June that I was going to make a change because I was turning 45 on August 28, and it was time to get serious. I saw the post on facebook for the “Transformation Challenge” and thought “Well, what do I have to lose, it’s 6 weeks, surely I can stick with this for 6 weeks!”.

I will admit, it was tough, REALLY tough the first 2 weeks, (ask my husband...I was cranky, I was tired, I was craving things I never crave), I went to the nutrition sessions and asked questions, and listened to what others asked, I was like a human sponge...I soaked up everything. I challenged “you will start to crave those veggies” (yeah...right I said with that skeptical smirk...yep, I admit it!). I NEVER ate so many fruits and veggies in my lifetime, I ate, I smoothied, I googled, I Pinterest....and I am here to tell you that 1) I do crave the fruits and veggies, I can’t wait to have my salad at super (who is this girl – what?!!), and 2) all your hard work with the trainers – WILL pay off....and here is what happened today.

After the first 6 weeks, I noticed a difference in my clothes, Stephanie, and my 6am groupies said they noticed a difference in my “before” photo compared to what I look like at the end of the 6 weeks (I didn’t see it, but when you look at yourself for years in a mirror I still saw the same person, and I hadn’t had my 6 week assessment done yet).

Today, I wandered into Penningtons to see if I could find a pair of dress pants for work. Keep in mind, I have been a “Plus” girl most of my life, so I immediately went to my comfort zone...I knew I probably wasn’t a size 18-20, so I grabbed a size 16. Off to the dressing room I went armed with jeans, dress pants and a couple tops (size 1X, instead of my normal 2X). I tried on the dress pants first, with one of the tops, and I thought the pants fit nicely, and I was on a bit of a high since I haven’t seen a size 16 in a few years. I come out of the dressing room and my sales clerk, who I have dealt with for years said she wanted me to try a smaller size in both the top and bottom. I looked at her and said “Yeah, right, okay but I doubt they will fit.” So, back in I go, on goes the top first and I am pleasantly pleased that the size X fits better than the 1X. Then I think, “here goes nothing, let’s try the pants” I look at the tag and see size 14, still feeling pretty unsure and skeptical. Well, groupies, I don’t know who was more shocked me or the reflection of me in the mirror....OMG, THEY FIT! I start to tear up, and I come out of the dressing room, and she said “See! I told you! Pretty soon you won’t need to be shopping in my store anymore!”.

This is why I share my story with you...you CAN do this, you CAN get through this new journey, because that’s what it is....a journey. It's hard, but it does get easier, your choices become different, and better. Take it one day at a time, one exercise at a time, celebrate that you ate more fruit or veggies today then yesterday, that you drank more water today, that you increased one more rep today then yesterday.

Stay POSITIVE, and don’t give up on yourself....YOU can do this....just be better than you were yesterday, and you will do GREAT!

As my husband read this...he said "So, did you buy them?!" - HECK YES I said!

“Once I joined Lift Personal Fitness my life changed. Since Jan I have lost over 20 lbs and went from a size 12 to 8 and changed the look of my body. ” - Rita Henry
In January last year I decided to make a change I'm my life. I felt tired all the time and had high blood pressure.

Once I joined Lift Personal Fitness my life changed. Since Jan I have lost over 20 lbs and went from a size 12 to 8 and changed the look of my body.

With my diet I thought I never ate much, but learned it was not how much I was eating but what I was eating, after a doctors visit today my doctor was very impressed. My blood pressure was once again normal.

I am 67 years old and plan to continue on my path of regular exercise and eating healthy!

"My self-esteem and self-confidence has gone up, I'm no longer in a constant battle with food... Most importantly I'm happier.”." - Charlene
From 218 to 175 - This is my story.

At my heaviest I was 218lbs and wore a size 2xL in the tops and a size 16 in the pants. I'm now fitting into jeans that I haven't fit into since I was 19 or 20 years old.

I currently weight 170 and have lost 50lbs. I no longer have a double chin, and my planter faciitis is almost completely gone. My self-esteem and self-confidence has gone up, I'm no longer in a constant battle with food... Most importantly I'm happier.

Steph helped me overcome some pretty big obstacles. She never gave up on me. Even when I was about to give up, she was still there to push me, coach me, and encourage me. She certainly put me through the torture test, but It's all worth it, when I see how far I have come.

If I can do it....anyone can. You have to do it for yourself, not anyone else. My trainer, Steph...she know's what she is doing. She is a miracle worker in my mind. If she can get me to go from where I was to where I am now, she must have something going for her.

I'm not done yet, but I would say I am well on my way.

Thanks again Steph!

"To be honest, I was expecting a generic series of rather uninteresting exercises similar to what other gym trainers had done for me in the past. What I got was so much more! " - Christin
When I started training at Lift, I was looking for a bit of extra guidance to improve my fitness level through strength training and increase muscle mass. To be honest, I was expecting a generic series of rather uninteresting exercises similar to what other gym trainers had done for me in the past. What I got was so much more!

After a comprehensive initial assessment, we started a program that was clearly tied to my overall goals, as well as being interesting, challenging and fun (something I thought I would never say about weight lifting!). Within weeks, I began to see significant improvements in my strength, tone and endurance.

The sessions are very motivating, and are different each time, keeping me on my toes. The staff here are excellent to work with, and as a result I’m expanding my fitness goals. I’m even considering fitness competitions!

"Yes, I have seen success on the scale and in my body. But more than that, I smile more, I laugh more and I live more. " - Jessica Holmes
Weight-loss isn’t a new concept for me. I have been a lot heavier and a lot lighter, but my focus on my weight has never wavered. The battle with my scale has been a constant for the past 10 years. A constant fight against an army of injuries, temptations and societal pressures. I have seen successes with many gyms, trainers and nutritionists. However, I did not learn anything, and those success soon became failures as I saw my hard work collapse. I relied too much on people to tell me when to workout, what to eat, when to eat and even how to live.

I lost a part of myself during my battles, I sacrificed and I fought so hard that I didn’t realize that I wasn’t happy. Since joining Lift I have seen my focus shift from weight loss to my overall health and well-being. I started to understand that finding a balance that was right for me was going to make me happy; not the number on the scale. I have learned that no matter what my size, there is always something I can do every day to make myself better, healthier and most importantly happier. I have learned that I do not need a meal plan full of protein or foods I do not like to be slim. I have learned that eating a whole grain plant based diet is not as scary as I thought. I have learned that if someone teaches me instead of doing things for me I OWN my successes!

As an athlete I have many strengths and as a large woman I have many weaknesses; working with the folks at Lift has helped me address both. Every day I am encouraged to push myself harder and try something that I couldn’t do the week before. I laugh and smile with the group in the gym, I sweat, I push myself and I always leave feeling better than when I came in. Yes, I have seen success on the scale and in my body. But more than that, I smile more, I laugh more and I live more.

Lift did not change my body, I did. Lift help changed my mind, and that is a much bigger win than a few pounds lost.

"I have lost weight and inches, but what I have gained is immeasurable. I am no longer on any pain medication, I have more energy, more resilience and more confidence to try new things. I feel better and younger than I did 20 years ago!" - Patsy McKinney
“LIFT PERSONAL FITNESS”! The best kept secret in Fredericton.

What do you do when you’re in your late 50’s, overweight, under fit, have limited shoulder mobility from an old injury and arthritic knees and hip that keep you awake most nights? What do you do when all these physical challenges have you feeling old, tired and unmotivated? YOU JOIN “LIFT PERSONAL FITNESS”!

I will admit that, at my age and with my physical condition, the thoughts of joining a gym was a bit intimidating to say the least. I have been to other Gyms in the city and walking into a huge open room with hundreds of mysterious machines is tough and what's worse is everyone seems to be in great shape and know exactly what they're doing.  As silly as it seems for a mature women my age, I worried about if I was dressed right, what kind of torture will they put me through and how silly will I look in front of all these people. If you are looking for more individualized and caring attention as well as a welcoming atmosphere, then I highly recommend Lift Personal Fitness.

I was instantly at ease when I walked through the door. It has a team of well trained, caring, devoted individuals. The space is clean, welcoming and not at all overwhelming, I can’t say that about some of the other Gyms in the City. It was such a surprise and so inspiring when during one of my very first sessions with the trainer, a very sweet young woman took a moment out of her workout to offer words of encouragement: “that’s a great looking plank” she said, it was very motivating! Like the name suggest it is truly “Personal Fitness”.

Thanks to Silas I have a personal meal plan (not a diet) that is not only nutritious, it’s delicious and doesn’t leave me feeling deprived. I also have a personal trainer who has been working with me for almost 6 months! He is a true professional and has a thorough understanding of how the body moves and functions. His knowledge is based on human anatomy, kinesiology, exercise physiology, exercise programming, biomechanics and nutrition. He is not just a personal trainer he is a coach and teacher, I have learned so much from him. My trainer has a great way of blending education and motivation into a planned and structured exercise program that’s working for me. I am so grateful for his willingness to help and respond appropriately to my age and particular physical challenges especially when the training gets tough, or when I’m lacking motivation. He is perceptive enough to know when to offer adequate support and encouragement and consequently, this is the longest I’ve ever stuck with anything! He is also very flexible and adaptable in his teaching and communication style. He's a great listener and provides feedback and insight on how my training is progressing and just knows when it’s time to change it up.

I have lost weight and inches, but what I have gained is immeasurable. I am no longer on any pain medication, I have more energy, more resilience and more confidence to try new things. I feel better and younger than I did 20 years ago!

"One of the biggest misconceptions I had of hiring a personal trainer was that their role and expertise did not extend beyond training people who wish to lose weight or body-build...." - Louise
One of the biggest misconceptions I had of hiring a personal trainer was that their role and expertise did not extend beyond training people who wish to lose weight or body-build.

A little research and a trial with Lift now coming on to almost 3 months now changed this misconstrued idea. I neither wished to lose weight nor compete in bodybuilding competitions. Rather, my goal is sport-specific: to better climb. Sports climbing, rock climbing and bouldering require a great deal of strength and with my personal trainer, I soon learned the extent of how a personal trainer helps in achieving your goal.

First, I’ve reached a plateau in climbing so I started to look into options in how to better myself. At Lift, my trainer helped in overcoming this plateau by introducing weighted sport-specific exercises. The harder climbing routes, that I couldn’t do before, are getting easier as time goes by.

Second, there is a plan. The advantage with working with my trainer is that she created a training program tailored to my sport. She keeps it challenging, interesting and ensures I am doing the exercises correctly, therefore ensuring effective and efficient sessions.

Third, she provides me with motivation and accountability. If I have a set time and someone expecting me, then there is no way I can bail! I keep my appointments as I am well aware that sport-specific training is an investment of time and my participation is obviously required.

Having a trainer keeps me motivated to improve and I feel a great sense of accomplishment as I take my climbing to another level.

For all these reasons as I continue my journey with Lift, I am thankful to my personal trainer for helping me get there. I look forward to achieving greater success in my climbing abilities in the next coming months and appreciate how my trainer and the staff at Lift have helped me in attaining my goals.

Best wishes for anyone considering taking a similar journey with Lift.

"I can't thank them enough for not only supporting my lifestyle and the progress I had made, but re-motivating me when I need it and for giving me the passion for the last missing link, exercising!" - Nadege
Three years ago my journey started. I was gaining about 10lbs a year at that point, I felt tired and sick. I wanted (or I knew I needed) to make a change but didn't know where to start. Change was difficult after so many years of unhealthy habits.

After watching a compelling documentary, I adopted a plant-based lifestyle which simply worked for me. I decided to focus on that one change for a whole year to make it my new habit. The following year, I started to try to find a passion for exercising.

After many stops and a lot of tries, I have now been at Lift for over 6 months and I have finally found my place.

I can't thank them enough for not only supporting my lifestyle and the progress I had made, but re-motivating me when I need it and for giving me the passion for the last missing link, exercising!

They have been nothing short of phenomenal and such a huge part of my healthy lifestyle. They make it easy, convenient and fun to workout!

"LIFT Personal Fitness is a different kind of gym... it's somewhere you look forward to going! They make working out fun." - Christina
For someone like me that said "I will never join a gym again" has definitely taken back those words. LIFT Personal Fitness is a different kind of gym... it's somewhere you look forward to going! They make working out fun. I know to some of you the word working & fun don't go in the same sentence but at LIFT Personal Fitness they do 100%.

I've been working out @ LIFT since the first week in July. It's considered my second home now since I am there four times a week. Come out and join me in an intense but FUN workout and see for yourself how awesome Lift is!!!

"I LOVE going to this gym – my sessions are something I look forward to all week. This is a totally new feeling for me – to actually get excited to work out." - Jennifer Parsons
I started training at Lift with only 100 days left before my wedding. When I approached Lift, my motivation was like any soon to be bride – I wanted to look my best in that white wedding dress.

After just a few weeks, it became about so much more than that. I started developing muscles in places I never knew existed; my body was changing and becoming more defined, and better yet – stronger! As someone who has been intimidated by the gym scene most of my life, I have learned to embrace the gym and the staff at Lift make the whole experience comfortable, inviting, and completely approachable.

I LOVE going to this gym – my sessions are something I look forward to all week. This is a totally new feeling for me – to actually get excited to work out. But it’s true! I feel good and I want to keep that feeling. I am proud of what we have achieved so far. While I am getting married next week, I feel I have only just begun at this gym.

I owe Lift a HUGE THANK YOU!

"I have dropped 3 clothing sizes, removed two prescribed medications and am strong, happy and healthy at 40! " - Christa Baldwin
As I could not change the fact I would turn 40 this year, I made a goal to be the healthiest me possible at 40. I did some research and ended up walking into LIFT. That was a great decision and the beginning of my new life.

Thanks to Silas and LIFT I am the healthiest I have ever been. I have a new passion for wellness and health that will carry me through the rest of my life.

LIFT is not just a gym, it encompasses a holistic approach to wellness. It is not an easy path but it is worth it.

I have dropped 3 clothing sizes, removed two prescribed medications and am strong, happy and healthy at 40! Thanks LIFT!!

"One year later and I was ripping on the surfboard for hours at a time. My body was more toned and best of all I had more confidence and felt healthier and stronger!" - Heather
I tried surfing for the first time when I was in my 30s and loved it, but found I didn't have the strength to paddle through the waves and "pop up" on the surfboard. After a half hour in the water I was exhausted and had to quit. I started training with Silas focusing on upper body and core strength as well as balance exercises. One year later and I was ripping on the surfboard for hours at a time. My body was more toned and best of all I had more confidence and felt healthier and stronger. Thanks Silas.
"Now I can jump, skip, and I can bend down without pain. My weight is going down, my body is firming and changing. I look and feel better today than when I was 30." - Patty MacLean
My journey at Lift Personal training started September 19 2014. That day everything changed for me.
Let me tell you what I mean. I was 50 year old overweight woman with advance arthritis in both knees, I was talking prescription drugs for arthritis and over the counter as well. Most days the pain was so bad I didn't want to get up.

For about 2 years my Dr. kept telling me to do strength training to build my muscles to elevate the pain. I would listen and think "yeah right as if" until the day I just couldn't take it anymore. That week the pain seemed to be getting harder to take. I emailed Silas and made an appointment to meet. I was very nervous and not to sure of anything. Silas spoke with me and explained what he and his staff could do for me.

So I joined LIFT, AND IT WAS THE BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE.

I started with 1/2hr 3 times a week and by the end of November I was off the prescription drugs and by the first of December I was able to join the group training. Now I can jump, skip, and I can bend down without pain. My weight is going down, my body is firming and changing. I look and feel better today than when I was 30.

I owe Lift soooo much for giving me the tools the encouragement and patience that I needed; the only thing I regret is not starting sooner.

So to all of you that think strength training doesn't work and that you don't need it, think again. ...I am living proof that it works . If you would like to talk to me feel free to contact me - Pattie MacLean (AKA Pattie Cakes on Facebook)

"I am a Jammer. I skate fast, score points and have a bull’s-eye on my back. I am thrilled to report that not only have I enjoyed an injury free season, I love the sport even more! I am more explosive, agile, stable and powerful and this leaves me more energy to do what I love….skate!"  - Trish Mooney
I have been a skater for 37 years, first as a figure skater for 13 years, then moving on to in-line. When the fabulous sport of Roller Derby came to Fredericton 2 years ago, I jumped on board. The problem was, I was a good skater but as I had aged I had neglected the strength training and overall conditioning I needed to skate competitively and safely.

By the summer of 2011 I was seriously injured spending months off skates and thousands of dollars rehabbing both knees and a separated shoulder. Not only could I not skate, I was using 2 canes for several months. Would my injuries plague me for life? Should I listen to everyone telling me I was too old for this, that I should let go of my midlife crisis? Could I resurrect my broken and weakened body at 43, skate injury free and maybe even excel in my new demanding sport? As I hobbled down the street knew that this was my goal. I would complete my rehab, get rid of these canes and bring in the 2012 season right. All I needed was a little help.

In January of 2012 I called Silas at Lift Personal Fitness. I will never forget Silas’s words when I asked “Do you think I can do this?” A big knowing smile came over his face…”Oh yeah! Absolutely!” His confidence in me was palpable. I followed his ever changing, ever challenging workouts, his spot on nutritional advice and saw results ….fast! I love Silas’s holistic approach to training, body, mind, body spirit. By May I felt ready - strong and healthy.

I am a Jammer. I skate fast, score points and have a bull’s-eye on my back. I am thrilled to report that not only have I enjoyed an injury free season, I love the sport even more! I am more explosive, agile, stable and powerful and this leaves me more energy to do what I love….skate!

Thank you Silas for your guidance and unwavering support in helping me reach my goals. How about we set some new ones and keep on going! You are a great trainer and the truest of friends.
